Results for The Golfer Pacific Challenge Qualifying Event at Terrace Downs, August 20thTerrace Downs recently hosted a local qualifying event of the Pacific Golfer 2 Ball Best Ball Teams Event on Friday the 20th of August.
The day started off with a bitter bite as golfers headed to the first tee. The course (as with most courses in the region) has been inundated with rain over the past week and proved a true test for everyone on the day.
The qualifiers from this qualifying event go on to play in the Regional Final which is also being held at Terrace Downs on the 19th of September.
The top scoring team on the day consisted of Grant Blackmore and Mark Baird, both Grant and Mark held off a fierce field in the challenging conditions and won for themselves a spot in the Regional Final. From this final if they managed to finish top in the Field they will then progress to the National Final which is a four round tournament hosted as a separate competition in association with the Mitsubishi Motors World Masters Golf Championship on the Gold Coast. Now in its 15th year, the Mitsubishi World Masters attracts 800 plus golfers and boasts $120,000 in prizes.
Leading scores from the day:
1st 46 Points Grant Blackmore / Mark Baird
2nd 45 Points Will Nicholls / Dave Clark
3rd 45 Points Craig Smith / Karl Johnson
On behalf of the Terrace Downs Resort we would like to thank all the players that competed in the event and wish the qualifying pair all the best in the Regional final.
A special thank you also goes to Lance Murray who is the New Zealand Representative for the Pacific Golfer. His coordination of the day and assistance in raising much needed funds for the local Windwhistle School will be strongly cherished.
