2009 High Country Challenge: ResultsOn the 11th of December Terrace Downs hosted the final of the 2009 High Country Challenge.
Holding onto our breaths and crossing our fingers after a dicey Thursday weather prediction, the day turned out superb and participants made the most of the tranquil conditions.
This year the overall men’s and ladies divisions were closely competed and in the end were won by Raymond Williams and Philippa Idour.
For participants to be eligible for the Overall Stableford prizes, participants needed to compete in at least 3 monthly events plus the grand final. The best 3 scores from the monthly events plus the score from the final were totaled to give the overall winners.
2009 Overall Men’s Stableford Winner:
Raymond Williams, 148 Points
2009 Overall Ladies Stableford Winner:
Philippa Idour, 126 Points

The 2009 Stableford Winners both won travel vouchers which were kindly sponsored by Wanaka United Travel.
As with previous years, an Order of Merit has been continued throughout the 7 month-long series. The Order of Merit was originally created as an additional competition for our regular competitors and has quickly become an integral part of the series.
For the Order of Merit, approximately 550 points are awarded at each monthly event to the top ten Stableford place holders in the combined Men’s and Ladies divisions. The lead over the first five months changed hands at various stages but in the closing months both of the winners cleared their way from the field:
